Allison takes third win of 2000 at I-44 Lebanon Speedway
Steve Allison, driving the Allison Homes/Casten's Racing Products Chevrolet took home his third win of the season in one of the most exciting PRO Supertruck Series of the year.
Early on it looked like Ron Poladna was going to be unbeatable at his home track. Poladna, who was sitting second in the point standings going into this event, set fast time by almost half a second over Greg Moore, won the pole dash and lead the main event until a blown engine put him out of the race.
Allison inherited the lead from Poladna's misfortune, but had his own bad luck on lap 35 when he ran thru fluids dumped by another truck and spun out. This gave the point to Greg Deatherage who continued to lead until lap 67, when Allison, who had been steady working his way back to the front, retook the lead.
Last years race winner Joe Madore had been following Allison thru the field but got held up behind lapped traffic on a lap 85 restart. The restart was due to a red flag that was thrown for the truck of Wade Jarvis when a oil line ruptured and it burst into flames. Jarvis was un-injured in the accident.
Madore and Allison had fans on their feet as the pair battled for the last 5 laps with Allison taking the win by half a truck length.
The win stretches Allison's lead to 85 points over Madore and 105 over Poladna.
Final finishing positions were, Allison, Madore, Deatherage, Morre, CJ Smith, Jarvis, Richard Harrison, Poladna, Danny Day.
